Remedy Takes Manhattan: Control Resonant Arriving September 24
Remedy Entertainment is taking their paranormal weirdness out of the Federal Bureau of Control and throwing it straight into the streets of New York City. The developer showcased Control Resonant at Summer Game Fest, locking in a release date of September 24, 2026.
This is a massive shift in environment, and it is going to change the dynamic of the supernatural action.
Manhattan Under Quarantine
The sequel is taking the fight into a massive, city-scale environment:
- The Setting: A quarantine zone in Manhattan, moving the action from the claustrophobic corridors of the Oldest House to a ruined, shifting cityscape.
- Gameplay Evolution: The game is described as an action-RPG sequel, indicating deeper progression mechanics, loot, and build variety than the original game.
- Release Date: September 24, 2026, which means the game is just around the corner.
The Verdict: A Bold New Environment
The original Control was a masterpiece of atmospheric, brutalist design. Moving the action to a quarantine zone in Manhattan is a major risk. Part of what made the original so special was the shifting, impossible architecture of the Oldest House.
Remedy needs to ensure that the streets of New York still carry that same sense of uncanny, reality-bending horror. If they can pull that off while expanding the gameplay into a full action-RPG, they will have another classic on their hands.
