FromSoftware is Bringing the Fire to Nintendo Switch 2: Elden Ring and "The Duskbloods" Confirmed
Nintendo fans, the days of begging for decent third-party support are officially over.
Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, just dropped their latest financial reports, and they basically confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is getting the royal treatment. We are talking about two massive FromSoftware titles slated for 2026: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and an exclusive new IP called The Duskbloods.
If you thought the next Nintendo console was just going to be for Mario and Zelda, think again. The gods of Masochistic Gaming are setting up shop, and they are bringing the heat. Let's look at what is coming.
The Duskbloods: Bloodborne Meets Jetpacks and Dinosaurs?
Let's start with the most intriguing project on the horizon. The Duskbloods is a brand new, exclusive IP developed specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Yes, you read that right. FromSoftware is building an exclusive game for a Nintendo console, and it is being directed by none other than Hidetaka Miyazaki.
If you are expecting another traditional single-player Souls-like, prepare to have your mind blown. The Duskbloods is described as an experimental 8-player PvPvE online multiplayer action RPG. You will be competing against both the environment and other players in a dark, gothic world.
The aesthetics are rumored to be heavily inspired by the dark, gothic atmosphere of Bloodborne: but with a twist. The early leaks point to the inclusion of jetpacks and dinosaurs. It sounds absolutely unhinged, but this is Miyazaki we are talking about. If anyone can make jetpacks, dinosaurs, and gothic horror work together in a multiplayer setup, it is him.
Kadokawa has reconfirmed a 2026 release window in their reports, meaning we will likely get a first official trailer during the upcoming summer showcases.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is Finally Portable (For Real This Time)
As if a brand new exclusive IP was not enough, FromSoftware is also bringing the masterpiece itself to the Switch 2. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is officially on track for 2026.
We knew this port was in development, but it did face some internal delays. FromSoftware wanted to make sure the game did not run like a slideshow on the new Nintendo hardware, choosing to delay the port to ensure performance tuning met their high standards.
With the extra development time, the Tarnished Edition is shaping up to be the ultimate way to play Elden Ring on the go. No more streaming, no more massive frame drops: just pure, native Lands Between action in the palm of your hand.
The Switch 2 Just Became a Must-Buy
Let's be real for a second. Having Elden Ring run natively on a Nintendo handheld is a massive technical accomplishment, but securing an exclusive Miyazaki-directed multiplayer IP like The Duskbloods is a historical victory for Nintendo.
FromSoftware is officially all-in on Nintendo's next-gen platform. The console wars just got a lot more interesting, and Nintendo is holding some very sharp blades.
Stay tuned to Break The Meta. We will be covering the official reveals the second they drop.
