Patch Day Pandemonium: Siege and Marathon Lead a Historic June 2 Competitive and RPG Drop

If your social life was planning a comeback this summer, I have some terrible news for you.

Today, June 2, 2026, is an absolute circus of a release day. Normally, developers have the decency to space out their major drops so we can actually catch our breath. But not today. Today, the competitive gaming scene and the online RPG landscape decided to launch a coordinated assault on your hard drive.

And leading the charge are two of the biggest competitive tactical and extraction shooters on the market: Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege and Bungie's Marathon. Whether you are aiming for Diamond in Siege's brand new competitive system, hunting for loot in a wiped zone, testing your frame-data in Tekken, or preparing to wipe on FFXIV's newest raid, you are not getting any sleep tonight.

Grab a beverage, sit down, and let me tell you how it is. We are looking at a patch day of epic proportions. Here is the breakdown of the massive shooter overhauls, the competitive shake-ups, and the RPG releases you cannot afford to ignore.

Biggest Expectations: Rainbow Six Siege and Marathon

Ubisoft and Bungie are dropping the hammer today, making this a historic day for shooter fans.

Rainbow Six Siege: Operation System Override

Ubisoft is leading the way with Operation System Override, launching Year 11 Season 2. This brings system-wide overhauls to the legendary tactical shooter.

  • Ranked 3.0: The controversial hidden MMR system is officially dead. Matchmaking is transparent, lobby fairness is prioritized, and placement matches make a triumphant return.
  • Dokkaebi Remaster: Her classic Logic Bomb is replaced by the Jegeo Payload, which lets her remotely target enemy phones to deal damage and disrupt defensive cameras. She also gets the new XK23 Assault Rifle.
  • New Map: Calypso Casino is the latest map in the rotation, offering tight corridors, verticality, and plenty of destructible environments to master.

Marathon Season 2: NIGHTFALL

Bungie is officially shifting its primary focus to its sci-fi extraction shooter, and they are kicking things off with Marathon Season 2: NIGHTFALL.

To celebrate the launch, Bungie is hosting an Open Play Week from June 2 to June 9. The full game is free to play on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with cross-progression carrying over if you decide to buy the full package.

But if you are a returning veteran, brace yourself: this update introduces the game's first-ever seasonal progression wipe. Everyone is starting fresh, with gear and faction ranks reset to level the playing field. The update also drops the spooky Night Marsh Zone (a nighttime variant of Dire Marsh), the experimental Sponsored Survival Mode (a lower-risk, PvP-lite experience), and the new Cradle System for customizing Runner shell stats. Plus, you can get your hands on the new KKV-9SD SMG and the D54 Battle Pistol.

The Competitive Arena: Stims, Ninjas, and Balance Overhauls

If you can tear yourself away from the big two shooters, the rest of the competitive landscape is getting a major jolt today with events, character drops, and meta-shifting balance updates.

Apex Legends: Power Trip Event is Live

Respawn is kicking off the Power Trip event today, and it is bringing some wild changes to the battle royale. The headline feature is the introduction of Experimental Stims. These items give you a massive boost to speed and utility, but they come at a cost: they drain your health as you use them. It is a high-risk, high-reward mechanic that is going to make skirmishes absolutely chaotic.

The event also features a rotating Wildcard map pool consisting of Kings Canyon, Olympus, and Broken Moon, alongside Ash’s new Prestige Skin for the players looking to flex.

Tekken 8: Kunimitsu Enters General Access

If you did not pick up the Season 3 Pass for early access, today is your day. The legendary ninja Kunimitsu is now available for general purchase.

Her arrival follows the recent 3.01.01 update, which introduced sweeping balance changes to the game's core Heat system. Kunimitsu brings her signature high-mobility, teleport-heavy playstyle to a meta that is still recovering from those mechanical adjustments. If you are heading into ranked today, expect to see a lot of kunai flying.

Street Fighter 6: Third Anniversary and Meta Adjustments

Capcom's flagship fighter celebrates its third anniversary today. The celebration comes hot on the heels of the massive v05.28.2026 universal patch.

That update delivered game-changing adjustments to Normal Throws, Throw Escapes, and Drive Reversals, altering how players approach pressure situations. With the anniversary event kicking off today, expect the servers to be packed with players trying to master these new mechanical timings.

Clash Royale: The Meta Receives a Shock

On the mobile competitive front, the meta just got flipped on its head. The latest balance update has issued heavy nerfs to dominant forces: the Hero Balloon, Hero Bowler, and Evolved Inferno Dragon. Creative Studio III has officially dropped Patch 7.51, and the headline attraction is Dancing Mad (Ultimate). This is the seventh Ultimate-tier raid in FFXIV history, featuring the iconic villain Kefka. These raids are the pinnacle of MMO difficulty, requiring weeks of flawless execution. For the crafters, the update also opens up Auxesia, the brand-new destination for Cosmic Exploration.

Fallout 76: Patch 68

Bethesda's Infestations update is now live. Up to five locations across Appalachia will now dynamically transform into high-stakes endgame zones overrun by elite factions. The real prize? Infestation bosses are guaranteed to drop 4-star legendary items. Additionally, players can now grab a pet Deathclaw for their C.A.M.P. and tackle new seasonal fishing challenges.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Update 7.9

Broadsword has released Legacy Reborn, delivering the grand finale to the Legacy of the Sith expansion story on the planet Khar Shian. You will finally settle the score with Darth Malgus and Darth Jadus. The update also kicks off PvP Season 10, which will run for the next 16 weeks, alongside critical QoL fixes.
