Operation System Override Just Dropped the Biggest Flex Rainbow Six Siege Has Seen in Years. Here's Everything Coming

Listen up, because I'm only going to say this once. Actually, no, I'll say it as many times as I want because this season deserves the spotlight. Operation System Override drops June 2nd, and Ubisoft just showed up to the party wearing a crown nobody asked them to put on. But you know what? It fits.

Year 11, Season 2. Let's break down every single thing coming to Siege, and trust me, there's a lot. Grab a seat. Or don't. Standing ovations work too.

Dokkaebi Gets the Glow-Up She's Been Begging For

The queen of annoying phone calls just got dangerous.

Dokkaebi's old Logic Bomb, you know, the one where she rings every single defender's phone like some kind of telemarketer from hell, is gone. Replaced with something far more cruel: the Jegeo Payload.

Here's the play. Instead of carpet-bombing every phone on site, Dokkaebi now targets a specific defender (they need to be scanned first, so do your intel homework). Once locked on, she sends the call. The defender has a choice:

  • Pick up the phone and deal with the interruption
  • Ignore it, and watch their phone explode for 40 HP of damage, leave behind a fire hazard, and, here's the nasty part, permanently lose access to all observation tools for the rest of the round

No cameras. No callouts. Nothing. For the entire round. That's not a nerf to the defender's utility. That's an execution.

She can also still hack phones off dead defenders, but now it works at greater distances and through walls. The tradeoff? Camera access from hacked phones is temporary instead of permanent. Fair? Maybe. Devastating in the right hands? Absolutely.

Oh, and she's picking up a brand new toy: the XK23 assault rifle. More on that beautiful piece of engineering in a moment.

The XK23: A Weapon Worth Talking About

New gun alert. The XK23 is a bullpup assault rifle built for mid-range dominance, and it's being handed to Dokkaebi, Sens, and Rauora. Here are the numbers:

Stat Value
Damage 49 (up to 54 with Extended Barrel)
Fire Rate 675 RPM
Magazine 35 rounds
Profile Low recoil, high reliability at range

49 damage at 675 RPM with a 35-round mag and controllable recoil? That's not a gun. That's a statement. The kind of statement that says "I'm holding this angle and you're not getting through it." Three operators now have access to this thing, and every single one of them just became more annoying to deal with. You're welcome.

Calypso Casino. Vegas Is Back, Baby

If you've been around long enough to remember Rainbow Six: Vegas, this one's going to hit different.

Calypso Casino is a brand-new competitive map inspired by the Vegas era, rebuilt from scratch for Siege's modern gameplay. Three floors including a basement, a massive main hall, rooftop crane access, a basement spawn, and, this is the part that matters, an expanded drone vent network designed to push vertical gameplay and creative routing.

The map drops directly into the Ranked, Unranked, and Quick Match pools on day one. No waiting. No limited-time test. It's here, it's competitive, and it's ready for you to learn or get rolled on. Your choice.

Ranked 3.0: The Competitive Overhaul We Actually Needed

Alright, let's talk about the biggest systemic change in this patch. Ranked 3.0 is not a tweak. It's a teardown and rebuild.

No More Hidden MMR

That invisible number that's been secretly deciding your fate for years? Gone. Your visible rank is now your actual rank. You play against people at your displayed skill level. What you see is what you get. Novel concept, right?

Placement Matches Return

Every season now starts with 5 placement matches to calibrate your rank. These are heavily weighted, so don't throw them unless you enjoy starting from the bottom. Important note: placement matches have no squad restrictions, so grab whoever you want for those first five.

Champion Gets Five Tiers

Champion rank now runs from Champion V all the way up to Champion I, with the leaderboard sitting at the Champion I level. No more vague "Champion" blob at the top. There's a real ladder to climb now.

Squad Restrictions (Post-Placement)

Once you're ranked, the rules tighten up:

Rank Range Squad Restriction
Copper – Emerald Can queue with players within 3 full ranks
Diamond – Champion Can queue with players within 2 full ranks

No more Diamonds carrying their Copper friends through lobbies. Thank the matchmaking gods.

Seasonal Rewards Track

You earn 2 points per win and 1 point per loss. Every 10 points unlocks rewards: Competitive Coins, Alpha Packs, charms, card backgrounds. The grind actually pays you back now. What a concept.

Legend Division (Coming Season 3)

Not launching with System Override, but worth mentioning: a Legend Division is planned for Season 3. You'll need Platinum or higher in Season 2 and Champion in Season 3 to qualify, plus additional security requirements. The elite of the elite. Something to chase.

Map Modernizations: Three Old Friends Get a Facelift

Three maps are getting visual and gameplay upgrades with new environmental features like destructible gas pipes and fire extinguishers:

  • Emerald Plains
  • Kanal
  • Outback

Not full reworks. Think of them as the maps going to the gym and coming back looking better. Same bones, sharper presentation, a few new tricks in the environment to play around with.

Operator Balance Changes: The Full Rundown

Here's where Ubi's been tweaking the roster. Every change, no fluff:

Zofia

  • Changed from 3-health / 1-speed to 2-health / 2-speed
  • She's faster now. If you main Zofia, your playstyle just shifted from tank to aggressive entry. Adapt or get left behind.

Gridlock

  • Trax Stingers now deploy faster
  • Stingers have 35 HP (up from 1 HP. Yes, one)
  • Stepping on Trax now causes defenders to limp for 10 seconds
  • Trax canister count reduced from 4 to 3

Gridlock mains, your gadget went from tissue paper to actual area denial. Fewer charges, but each one is a genuine problem. Defenders can't just shoot one bullet and move on anymore.

Pulse

  • Cardiac Sensor scan distance increased from 9 meters to 10.5 meters

A meter and a half doesn't sound like much until you realize that's the difference between "I think someone's there" and "I know exactly where you're standing and I'm C4'ing the floor."

Nomad

  • Airjab trigger detection range increased from 3 meters to 3.25 meters
  • Now has access to all weapon grips for the AK-74M

Small buffs, but Nomad mains will feel the difference. Better gun control, slightly wider traps. Quality of life that adds up.

Mozzie

  • Pest Launcher capture radius increased from 1.5 meters to 1.75 meters

Catching drones just got a little more forgiving. If you've ever watched a Pest miss a drone by a pixel and questioned your existence, this one's for you.

Solis

  • SPEC-IO Electro-Sensor duration increased from 15 to 17 seconds

Two more seconds of electronic wallhacks. Not flashy. Very effective.

Deimos

  • Faster target acquisition after identifying an enemy

Deimos players now lock onto their mark quicker. Combined with Dokkaebi's rework, the attacker intel game this season is going to be suffocating for defenders.

Console Mouse & Keyboard Support. Finally

This one's been a long time coming. Native mouse and keyboard support arrives on consoles mid-season.

Here's the catch (and it's a good one): players using MnK on console will be automatically placed into PC lobbies. No more pretending you're "just really good with a controller" while running a XIM adapter. You want the precision? You play with the big boys. Respect.

Weekly Trial Operators

New to Siege or don't own every operator? A weekly rotation system now lets you try specific operators for free, changing every week. Low commitment, no buyer's remorse. Try before you buy, like a responsible adult, or just abuse the free picks to terrorize Quick Match. Either works.

The Bottom Line

Operation System Override isn't just a seasonal update. It's a statement. Dokkaebi's rework alone changes how attacker intel works at every level of play. Ranked 3.0 finally gives competitive integrity the infrastructure it deserves. Calypso Casino brings back the Vegas energy this game's been missing. And the balance changes? Targeted, meaningful, and designed to actually shake up the meta instead of just shuffling deck chairs.

June 2nd. Be there or be irrelevant.
